Meat, Poultry and Fish industry
The Meat, Poultry and Fish metal dector covers a wide variety of different animal based protein products, which starts with raw, primary- processed meat(i.e.beef, pork, lamb), poultry (chicken or turkey) fish and seafood. It extends to secondary processing and beyond, which ncludes marinated, fermented or cooked meats, bacon, sausages and hot dogs, speciality meats, meat puddings, terrines, and includes ready to cook raw meat and fish products, whether they are fresh or frozen.
Understanding the Industry
End line inspection and weighing protects factory brands and the consumer ZEGOO produces a range of inspection and weighing equipment designed for the end of the production process where product is packaged and ready for shipment to the wholesaler or retailer. As part of a HACCP / food safety management plan, the systems normally form a Critical Control Point and helps identify issues prior to the product being placed on the market.
Higher standard with a Combo Machine
Combined machine creates a higher standard and save factory space by combining a metal detector and checkweigher.
Improve robustness and sanitation with hygienic design
Hygienic system design forms a fundamental philosophy for ensuring an inspection system is easy to clean, as well as having the necessary robustness for a system to survive in a high-care factory environment. ZEGOO’s systems are designed to have an IP65 ingress rating for moisture evironment or IP66 for wash down condition by water gun clean.
Maximise CCP integrity with Fail-Safe functionality
Fail-Safe functionality are added features to an inspection system that help improve the security of contaminated products as well as improve the overall integrity of a Critical Control Point. Some functionality is industry best-practice, whereas others are essential for meeting Retailer Codes of Practice or for demonstrating a zero-tolerance attitude towards foreign body contamination.
Challenges in this field
One of the challenges with meat is that there are many different opportunities during the production process for metal to find its way into the food. Metal fragments can find their way into the food during the slaughtering process, arriving at the manufacturing plant already contaminated. It can also happen in many ways during processing; metal bolts can come loose from machinery and land in the meat; metal-to-metal contact of can openers or mechanical cutting devices can create metal shards. Other sources of metal include equipment with smaller metal parts that can break loose, such as wire mesh belts, screens and injection needles.
Stainless steel is the most commonly used metal in meat processing, which means it is also a greater threat for food contamination. Part of the problem in the past is that stainless steel is difficult to detect due to the poor conductivity of stainless. And, as food manufacturers know all too well, salt, moisture, pH and other factors play heavily in disrupting a metal detector’s signal and thus its effectiveness.
